Former GIJ SRC President To Construct Classroom Block For Suhyen SDA

Martin Thompson Ntem, former GIJ SRC President and editor of The Smart Eye Magazine in collaboration with Keteke Ghana have cut sod for the construction of a four unit classroom block for the Suhyen SDA Primary School in the North Juabeng Municipal Assembly.

The sod cutting event was graced by notable personalities in the community including; Member of Parliament for North Juabeng constituency Hon. Nana Adjei Boateng, the Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Comfort Asante, the Municipal Director of Education Mr. B.K. Ofori, the Chief of the Suhyen traditional area Okogyeaman Ankomah Basapon, the Regional Head of SDA schools Rev. Owusu Sarpong, pupils and members of the Suhyen community.

Forty bags of cements were also donated to the chief as commitment to the project before construction officially starts.

The philanthropic activity is part of a Corporate Social endeavour by the Smart Eye Magazine dubbed the “Citizen Build”. The Citizen Build initiative put up by the Management of Smart Eye magazine, takes to identifying and supporting schools operating in challenging environments. The initiative has received immense support by Keteke Ghana, a non-governmental humanitarian organization committed supporting the deprived and needy in society.

In an interview with the Managing Editor of Smart Eye, Mr. Martin Thompson Ntem he said, “This is our little way of giving back to society especially the very students who patronize our magazines. We believe when we all bring our resource together we can achieve a lot and build our community for our general good.”

He again added that he and his team chose Suhyen particularly because, unlike schools in the big cities, the Suhyen SDA Basic School was left to the mercy of the weather.

School would have to close when the clouds became pregnant with rain, meanwhile they were expected to ably compete their colleagues in other well-resourced institutions for admission into various senior high schools.

Keteke Ghana after the sod cutting event donated over 5000 exercise books, clothes and other stationary products to the people of Suhyen.
