The Projects Manager of Cadi Media and Communication Consult, Mr. Martin Thompson Ntem, has called on communication students and practitioners to acquire skills in digital marketing and online media content creation since the future of the profession is uncertain and evolving.
According to him, the basic roles of the communication practitioners keep changing such that the school-based curriculum does not address all, hence digital marketing is the truth no one can ignore.
Speaking at the end of a four-day Digital Marketing and Communication Masterclass last Sunday, the projects manager said that Cadi Communication considered it imperative to organise the training due to the recent changes in consumer behaviour.
He added that due to the pandemic, a lot more customers had moved online, and as such digital marketing skills was the right way to satisfy that demand.
Adjustment
In his opinion, consumers are in charge of the transaction hence the need to adjust or fail.
On the impact of the training, Mr. Ntem said the organisation had equipped participants with some employable skills such as digital marketing, communication skills, social media management, and content creation.
“The training was to help the youth gain the skills and knowledge necessary for digital marketing.
The world has transformed, partly due to COVID-19 and so many activities have moved online and the need to equip the youth with the skills to play on this stage birthed this training”.
About the future, Mr. Ntem said a lot of effort was being put in place to replicate this training in other parts of the country as the need for digital marketers’ surged.
